Church of the Divine Sage
CONSTANTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
"Consider others as yourself." - DHAMMAPADA 10.1
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." - LUKE 6.31
"He who never harms himself by harming others,
follows the highest path." - BHAGVAD-GITA
The Church of the Divine Sage is completely non-denominational and is
devoted to fundamental freedom of thought and transformation of
consciousness through love, compassion, and respect for all living
creatures. It is my belief that the strict and responsible use of
Salvia divinorum as a holy sacrament and when combined with deep
meditation practice, can be a personal catalyst for spiritual revelation and
connection with the Divine in ways that no other entheogen can
provide.
We are all small community of spiritual explorers who've been having
monthly gatherings on a regular basis since July of 2001.
Rather than seving as a point of recruitment, this
barely-updated website is more of a testament to the legitimate
existence of our church and as a beacon
for my
mission to spread the word of this sacred teacher plant to as many as
possible. Our Purpose and
Creed is stated in our
Bylaws in the event that we
might, at some point in the future, find someone to help us write a
more relevant and comprehenive set, with the eventual goal of being
recognized as a legimate church in the eyes of the law.
I always feel that if there ever were such a thing as being the "genuine article" when it comes to being
wholly and completely convinced that I have touched the hand of god
through Salvia divinorum, it is me, and for that reason, I have no
fear with what anyone might say in relation to the legitimacy of my
desire for this Church of the Divine Sage. I now remember,
vividly, who I was before I entered
this fragile and fleeting frame and now want to use the massive
machinery that IAmShaman and Shaman's Garden have become in order to
help raise, in any way possible, awareness on so many sacred plant
teachers and entheogens that have been demonized throughout recent
history.
The
Mystery Religions presently form the basis of much of my beliefs
partially out of necessity, but the bottom line for me, is this: As humans, we
all unfold from the Divine in equal time and place, and share
mutual, single instant of this unfolding known as consensual reality,
which is unique, complete,
and perfect.
I am also convinced that this unfolding is also only one of many. Just as an atom awakens to the
cell, and the cell awakens to the body, so do we awaken into our
higher selves, to the Divine, upon death of the body. This
clarity of vision is not a feeling or a sense; it is the beautiful
gift of Salvia divinorum, allowing me to dislodge from this instant of time, releasing
me
into the greater unfolding; one of love, one devoid of individual
self, one of complete surrender to the Divine, and one of extraordinary,
inexplicable beauty.
"Buddhist and Christian scholars in the past have often said that
Buddha rejected the notion of 'God,' whereas God was of overwhelming
importance for Jesus. But more recent scholarship has
suggested that what the Buddha rejected was the notion of a personal
god--that is, God as a being separate from the universe." - Jack Kornfield
